**Ping, ping, ping**
Emails, Slack messages, Zoom Meetings, Phone calls, the list goes on and on. In today’s work world, it can be difficult to step away, take a break, and clear your mind. Research shows that taking a break from work reduces stress and improves your decision making, but do people actually do it? Finding a work life balance is so important and with everything that’s happening in the world, it’s arguably more important than ever.
Everyone knows the pandemic changed the way the world works. Working from home became the norm all around the world, so how did we at DARCI Creative burn our collective tongue? By drinking our coffee before it was cool…
Ok, jokes aside. Way back in early 2020 before the pandemic (feels like centuries ago), we implemented some new work life balance policies including a WFH option and the very popular Healthy Happy Hours program. The WFH policy allowed each employee the option to work from home two days per week. As you might have already guessed, for the safety of the staff during the pandemic, we were all sent to work from home full time shortly after.
However, our Healthy Happy Hours program is still going strong and is a complete game changer. Each week, we’re all allowed four hours to take a break from work to go get some exercise, stretch our legs, take a breather, really, whatever you like to do to get away and clear your mind a bit. Sounds awesome, right? I would even argue that the HHH policy has been more important because of the pandemic. Being stuck inside your own home all day everyday gets old really quick. Having the option during the day to go get some exercise or some fresh air is amazing.
It’s great to work somewhere where the importance of a work life balance is not only recognized, but put into action. Additionally, it shows how much faith and trust our fearless leader, Darci has in us as employees. She recognizes and believes that a healthy work/life balance will only further our commitment and dedication to the work we do at DC everyday. Cheers to you, Darci!
